About Dr. Williams

Dr. Ernest Q. Williams, MD attended the University of Mississippi where his exemplary academic achievements led to him graduating Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in both Chemistry and Mathematics. He earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine where he was the recipient of the J.T. and Mary Davis Medical Academic Scholarships.

Dr. Williams received extensive Internal Medicine training at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine where he completed his internship and residency. He was awarded the Outstanding Resident Teaching Award and remained on faculty for an extra year as Chief Medical Resident. He then progressed and completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at the Medical University of South Carolina with an additional year of advanced therapeutics.

Dr. Williams’ passion for gastroenterology led him to veraciously research many different areas inclusive of Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction, GI motility disorders and response to Botox therapies and Barrett’s Esophagus.

He focuses on creating a patient specific treatment plan that utilizes cutting edge technology. His goal is to provide the best treatment in a caring individualized and comfortable atmosphere.

When Dr. Williams is not practicing medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He also enjoys fishing, tennis, and other outdoor activities; one involves himself in various service-oriented endeavors, from local charities to medical mission trips in the Caribbean. In the past, he took pleasure in serving as a Volunteer Staff Physician for the Good Samaritan Clinic from 2001 through 2008 and as an Advisory Board Member in 2007.
